In summer 2001, the first eighteen GLORIA target regions were installed. The first monitoring cycle is approaching. Recent experiences from the GLORIA master site Schrankogel/Austria in 2004 (ten years after its establishing) showed that:

Located amidst the GLORIA target region Hochschwab, with a one-minute walk to typical alpine vegetation, it offers perfect opportunities for the workshop purposes. However, it is a remote mountain hut with limited space, allowing for a maximum of 40 persons for our group. Ascent to Schiestlhaus is magnificent but exhausting (about 1000 m in altitude, 3 hours, on a small and steep path). Good and warm mountain equipment is required as snowstorms may occur also in summer. |
