The GLORIA Input tools
GDIT: The GLORIA data input tool
To enter your field data into the Central Gloria Database, it is necessary to have an personalized GDIT-Tool for each target region. The GDIT is compiled specially for each particular target region, following this scheme:
- After finishing field work, enter your species list into a Taxa
input sheet provided (xls)
Please take also a look to the Taxa input sheet EXAMPLE (xls) , in case of any doubts. - Send this sheet to the GLORIA coordination group, gloria.office@boku.ac.at where it will be checked for synonyms and naming conventions
- The species list will be associated with a GLORIA intern species code, ensuring that taxa are named similar GLORIA-wide
- This list is compiled into the GDIT, which is sent to you
GDIT is written and developed by the GLORIA coordination to provide a opportunity for standardised and consistent data handling. The individual forms of the tool are a one to one reproduction of the sheets suggested to use in field from the GLORIA Field Manual version 5, making it simple and safe to transfer field data into digital mode. Underlying code is checking for obvious mistakes or inconsistency, and , in the end prepares the 'Upload-package', representing the field data cleaned from all severe errors and compliant to the GLORIA database structure.
GPDM: The GLORIA Photo Documentation and Management Tool
The GPDM was written by the GLORIA coordination as MS-Access software.
The tool provides an easy way of coding all photo documentation of your target region in a standardised way.
This is normally the last step of including your target regions data into the central GLORIA database.
Photos will be stored digitally on our server and are backed-up, thus ensuring access
to the pictures for generations, a very important factor regarding the
role of the pictures whilst a re-installation of any GLORIA
site.
The Photos are also used in the field database as documentation of
your target region, even showing landscape or persons pictures
at the restricted level of the field database, provided they are
accordingly coded and approved to be public.
The GPDM is NOT impersonated (in contradiction to the GDIT) and is usable for any target region once you
have downloaded it.
