In addition to the internationally standardized Multi-Summit approach, several additional monitoring activities are in operation within the GLORIA network. See an overview in chapter 7 of the GLORIA field manual.

These activities focus either on extended spatial designs, such as at Schrankogel mastersite of GLORIA in the Tyrolean Central Alps,downslope vegetation transects in the White Mountains, Great Basin Mountains, larger-scale transects from coastal to inland mountains in Norway, or deal with other organism groups (e.g. arthropods, amphibians and reptiles), alpine soils, experimental studies (open-top chambers) or on socio-economic and cultural aspects.
